Grandpa Peeler was a son of James Turner and Martha Ann Tinkle Peeler.
He was injured at Jenkins Ferry and paroled about September 1864. He served under the name of Jimmy Wallace. (Wallace was his stepfather's name.) The area of Peeler Bend was named after him.
He first married Sarah Anna Needham and after her death he married my great-grandmother Laura Fletcher. He had at least 17 children with his two wives.
