J. W. Pearson Dies at Searcy

James William Pearson was born to the late William and Mary Phillips Pearson near Violet Hill, Arkansas January 25, 1872 and died at Searcy, Arkansas December 5, 1962 at the age of 90 years, 10 months and 10 days.
He was married in Izard County, Arkansas to Miss India Robins, who preceded him in death in 1940. They were the parents of seven children, two of whom preceded him in death. The surviving children are; two daughters, Mrs. Bertie Helm of Oxford and Mrs. Amy Melton of Searcy, and three sons; O. L. Pearson of Rogers and Borden and Herald Pearson both of Batesville; ten grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, a half brother, E. L. Pearson of Oroville, Washington and numerous other relatives and many friends.
Mr. Pearson had been a faithful member of the Church of Christ for some 70 years. Memorial services were held Thursday December 6 at two o’clock p.m. at the Oxford Church of Christ with Evangelist Glen Pace and Evangelist A. S. Croom both of Searcy officiating. Burial was made in the Oxford Cemetery under the direction of Carter Funeral Service of Salem. Pallbearers were; Remmel Rowden, Hayden Helm, Graydon Bone, Earl Dillard, Olen Youngblood and Don Guthrie.
