WALLS, Sylvanus - Died, at the family home north of Cherokee City at 9 o'clock Sunday morning, August 24, Sylvanus Walls, age 74 years, 4 months and 5 days. Funeral services were conducted at the home Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock by Rev. Enix, followed by burial in the Dixon cemetery under the direction of Carpenter Bros. The deceased had been a resident of the Cherokee neighborhood, we are informed, for a period of about 19 years and was always a highly respected citizen. Sylvanus Walls was born in Oliver, Edgar county, Ill. April 19, 1856. He was united in marriage to Minnie May Oct. 3, 1886. To this union were born three children: Mrs. Cora Parker, now residing at Rogers, Ark.; Mrs. Lizzie Frank, now of Detroit, Mich. and Robert Walls, who died at the age of eight years. He leaves to mourn his loss the widow and two daughters, six grandchildren and a host of friends. In his remarks at the funeral service Rev. Enix said, "The greatest compliment that we can pay to the departed one is that he was a Christian in every sense of the word."
