Walter the son of Jimmy Benson and Pearl (Landsdale) Benson. Ada the daughter of Lee Roy McCarty and Maggie E (Chapin) McCarty.


Walter Benson, 82, of Imboden, died April 25, 2007, at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock.

Born Dec. 26, 1924, in Illinois, he was the son of Jimmy and Pearl Landsdale Benson. He was an appliance repairman for Swink Appliance Company in Imboden for over 40 years and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Ellen Ada McCarty Benson, whom he married Aug. 17, 1944, at Blytheville; five sons, Kenneth Benson and Rickey Benson, both of Imboden, Eugene Benson, Monroe, La., David Benson, Tuckerman, and Gary Benson, Michigan; two brothers, Charles Benson, Niles, Mich., and Jim Schrimsher, Imboden; four sisters, Clara Austin, Niles, Mich., Pauline McNew, Kennett, Mo., and Elsie Austin and Helen McCarroll, both of Hoxie; 16 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Friday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Imboden with Tracy Martin officiating. Burial was in Hope Cemetery at Imboden under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service.

Ada Ellen Benson

Ada Ellen Benson, 87, of Tuckerman, died March 25, 2014, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

Born Dec. 16, 1926, in Trumann, she was the daughter of Lee Roy and Maggie E. Chapin McCarty.

She was preceded in death by husband, Walter Benson, whom she married Aug. 17, 1944, in Blytheville; a son, Walter Edward Benson; five sisters; a great-granddaughter, Angel Benson; and a great-grandson, Trey Jewell.

Survivors include five sons, Kenneth Benson and wife Thelma and Rick Benson and wife Ina, all of Imboden, Eugene Benson, West Monroe, La., David Benson and wife Claire, Tuckerman, and Gary Benson, Michigan; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral is Thursday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Imboden with Jerry Clements officiating. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery under the direction of Cox-Fears Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Bob Lewis, Dan Matthews, Davis Matthews, Buck Sharp, Britt Conrad and Terry Rorex. Honorary pallbearers will be Ralph Jean and Billy Gene Downing.
