"Gone but not forgotten
Erected by his son W. M. James
Come Ye Blessed"

He was my ggg-graandfather, son of Horner and Sarah "Sallie" Boiles James. He was married to Malinda Bland (my ggg-grandmother), Elizabeth Terry, and a lady named Sarah. He operated a state stagecoach company on the road between Benton and Hot Springs. His "Goodspeed's" biography states, "He was captured on several occasions, but as many times daringly made his escape, and it became a belief that it was impossible to hold him a prisoner on account of his ingenuity and courage in taking desperate chances" while others say he deserted and others say he was really a Union sympathizer. James, Daniel Private—Enlisted in Co. B, 10th Arkansas Cavalry, at Little Rock, Arkansas, June 12, 1863; deserted on the retreat from Little Rock, September 12, 1863.
