James Hervey Evans, 71, of Bearden, died Wednesday November 12, at the Ashley County Medical Center in Crossett. He was born in Calhoun County on December 30, 1936 to the late Herman Evans, Sr. and Dolly Evans. Mr. Evans was a retired truck driver & a member of the Eagle Mills Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife Mary Kathryn Holt Evans of Bearden, AR; four sons, Audrey Evans "A.W." of Bearden, AR, Jackie Evans of Bearden, AR, Donnie Evans of Thornton, AR, Wade Gammel of Crossett, AR; three daughters, Paula Jean "Sissy" Tucker of Banks, AR, Sheila Lott of Crossett, AR, Melissa Johnson of Hamburg, AR; a brother, Herman Evans, Jr. of Bearden, AR; three sisters, Elizabeth Nash of Bearden, AR, Geneva Anthony of Bearden, AR, Kathryn Davidson of Chidester, AR; seventeen grandchildren, & six great grandchildren. Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ruth Denman Evans; a son, James David "Jimmy" Evans; two brother, & three sisters. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday November 15, 2008 at the Benton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Evans Cemetery with the Rev. Chris Morgan officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Friday evening at the funeral home in Fordyce. Arrangements by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce.
