Joe Martin, 35, Mo. Pac. pump man residing at Norfork, died of heart trouble at the home of his niece, Mrs. Randolph Baker, in Mt. Home, some time Friday night or before daylight Saturday morning. The funeral was at Norfork, Sunday afternoon. The widow and a little daughter and several other relatives survive.
Mr. Martin had suffered with heart trouble several years, and two years ago Dr. Appleby, the company surgeon, gave him a physical examination and diagnosed his aliment as organic heart trouble. And Friday afternoon the doctor gave him another examination and noted that his condition was serious and so advised him.
Martin was here Friday loading a car of mussel shells and late that night went to the home of his niece and went to bed about midnight. Next morning he was found dead in bed. He appeared to have passed away without a struggle.
County Judge Ruthven was notified and he appointed Dr. Appleby, county physician, as special coroner and he with Dr. Tipton examined the body and submitted the following report:
'Mt. Home, AR, Sept 7, 1929.
County Judge R.M. Ruthven:
I have viewed the remains of Joe Martin this morning at 9:30 and find that he died in bed sometime between 12 and 6 o'clock this morning. Having interviewed his physician, and having myself examined him yesterday about 4PM, I am practically certain that organic heart disease was the cause of his death, and I hereby testify to that fact.
"Scott Appleby, MD
Baxter County Health Officer and
Acting Coroner" '
