Funeral services were held Monday September 30, at 2PM at the Methodist Church in Norfork for John Earl 'Jack' Knowles who passed away September 28.
Jack Knowles was born June 12, 1909, at Boswell, AR, and passed away at the age of 43 years, 3 months, and 16 days. He was the son J.M. and Bama Knowles of Calico Rock.
He was united in marriage to Bertha Renfro of Calico Rock, August 14, 1929. to this union four children were born. They spent twelve years in Calico Rock then moved near Norfork where they lived the past sixteen years. He was employed at the US engineers at Norfork Dam for thirteen years.
He is survived by his wife; one son, Earl Jr. of Springfield, MO; and three daughters, Mrs. Earnestine Rice of Wichita, KS, Mrs. Thelma Cantwell of Springfield, MO and Miss Patsy Knowles of Norfork; three grandsons; his mother Mrs. Bama Knowles of Calico Rock; one brother, Milzie Knowles of Calico Rick; one sister, Mrs. Grace Cooper of Knob Creek. He is also survived by a host of nephews, nieces and friends.
The services were conducted by Rev. Harry Jowett of Norfork, Rev. Otha Strayhorn and Rev. Charles Duncan of Calico Rock. Pallbearers were Martin Pike, Glenn Wright, Roduick Rufhoen, Johnny Moore, Jim Clawson and Pat Megee. Burial was in Norfork Cemetery under the direction of Rollers Funeral Home of Mt. Home.

Funeral services for John Earl (Jack) Knowles, 48, of the Salesville community on Route 3 were held at the Norfork Methodist Church Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. Otha Strayhorn, Rev. Duncan of Calico Rock and Rev. Harry Jowett officiating.
Knowles a lifetime resident of this section was born at Boswell on June 12, 1909. His parents were the late John Knowles and Mrs. Bama Hunt Knowles. He was an employee of the US Engineers.
He was killed Saturday night in a highway accident three miles southeast of here.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Berta Knowles of the home; a son, Earl Knowles, Jr. of Springfield, MO; three daughters, Mrs. Ernestine Rice of Wichita, KS, Mrs. Thelma Cantwell of Springfield, MO and Patsy Knowles of the home; his mother, Mrs. Bama Knowles of Calico Rock; a brother, Milzie Knowles of Calico Rock; a sister, Mrs. Grace Cooper of Melbourne and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Martin Pike, Glenn Wright, R.M. Ruthvan, Jr., Jim Clawson, Johnny Moore and Pat Megee.
Interment was in the Norfork Cemetery. Roller Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
