William M. Wright, retired farmer and one of the best known and liked citizens of this section, died at the family home on C Street, S.W., Bentonville, at 1:20 o'clock on Saturday morning, January 1st, 1927, aged 70 years, seven months and 25 days, his death following ill health of the past few years from heart trouble. He had been critically ill for several days. Mr. Wright's parents were among the early settlers coming to this section form states further east and he was born on the old homestead on Sugar Creek just north of Bentonville on May 6th, 1856, living on the same property all of his life with the exception of four years in Missouri and the time he had lived in Bentonville. When a young man he went to Missouri, farming and teaching for some four years near Cassville. It was there he met and married Miss Ella Coppedge, also a young school teacher, who survives him. All of his life Mr. Wright was an advocate of better schools. He has been a consistent member of the M.E. Church, South since confessing Christ and affiliating with that denomination when 30 years of age. He loved his fellow man and was loved and respected by all who knew him. Besides his wife Mr. Wright is survived by a sister, Mrs. Henry Webb of Joplin; a half-sister, Mrs. Ernest Carter of Bentonville and by two half-brothers, Alex Wright of Bentonville and Sidney Wright of Treece, Kansas. Also by two grandchildren, living here with Mr. and Mrs. Wright, the children of his son, Leonard Wright, who died here as a young man several years ago. They also reared one daughter, Alea Erwin, now Mrs. Lawrence Forsting of Hartford, Ill. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the local M.E. Church, South attended by a large number of old neighbors and other friends and conducted by the Rev. W.T. Thompson, pastor. Intement was made in the Oakes cemetery near the old Wright home.

WRIGHT, Ellen COPPEDGE - Funeral services for Mrs. Ellen C. Wright, widow of the late Wm. M. Wright, who died at the home on West C street early Saturday moring, were held from the M.E. Church, South Sunday afternoon, the Rev. R.S. Hayden conducting the services. Burial was made in the Oakes cemetery north of Bentonville. She was 66 years of age and had been critically ill for some weeks. Ellen Coppedge Wright was born at Sherman, Texas Sept. 11, 1865. Her parents moved to Barry County, Mo. when she was a year old and lived there for over 20 years. In 1881 she married Wm. M. Wright. Two Children were born to this union, both died many years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Wright moved to Bentonville in 1886 and bought a bottom land farm on Sugar Creek in the Valley View community and were considered among the most prosperous citizens of that section. Mr. Wright's health failing him they moved to Bentonville to reside. He died two years later. Mrs. Wright had been a consistent member of the M.E. Church, South since girlhood. Her cheerful disposition won her many friends who, with neighbors of long standing, will sadly miss her. Surviving is a brother, Ed Coppedge of leach, Okla., two sisters, Mrs. W.G. Hall of Sedan, Kans and Mrs. W.R. Cooper of Bartlesville, Okla. and two grandchildren, Mrs. Noble Jones of Bentonville and Edward Wright of Bentonville, also a niece, Mrs. Alice Forsting of Hartford, ILL. whom she had raised from childhood as her own daughter.
