James Freeman Best , 61, a former Norfork resident, who lived in Stockton, MO, died in Mercy Hospital at For Scott, KS, on Wednesday, July 17, after a lingering illness.
He was born in Dixon, MO, on May 27, 1913, the son of Mr. and Mrs. A.H. Best who moved to Arkansas with their family in a covered wagon when he was nine years old.
He was married to the former Lucille Barton of Norfork on March 23, 1935.
Mr. Best was a member of the First Baptist Church in Caplinger Mills, MO.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille, of the home; one brother, Rev. John Best of Little Rock; four sisters, Mrs. Florene Brewer, Cuba, MO, Mrs. Hazel Parnell, Mt. Home, Mrs. Velma Waggoner, Russellville, Mrs. Lillie King, Yellville; 23 nieces and nephews and a large number of great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 19, at the First Baptist Church in Caplinger Mills, MO, with Rev. Roger Jones officiating.
Graveside services were held at Norfork Cemetery that afternoon with Rev. George Fletcher officiating.
