James A. Edwards, better known as Uncle Jim Edwards, a resident of this section for over half a century, died at his home near Dug Hill, eight miles north of Bentonville, following a severe illness from asthma and heart trouble for the past five weeks. The Rev. J.T. Hinds officiated at the funeral services held on Saturday afternoon. Burial was made in the Dug Hill cemetery. Mr. Edwards was born in Rutherford County, Tenn. April 3, 1847. He came here in 1869, settled on the same farm in Tanyard Hollow upon which he resided until death came. In 1873 he was united in marriage to Margaret Dodson to whom were born nine children. He united with the Christian Church at Donevan 40 years ago and has always been regarded as an upright citizen, kind neighbor and loving father. Besides his widow, Margaret Edwards, he is survived by seven children: Doc, Rufus, Lee and Ira of the Dug Hill community; Walter of Hayden Lake, Idaho; Jess of Charleston, Wash. and Mrs. Wallace Rucker of Ojai, Calif. Also by three sisters, a brother and 18 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

EDWARDS, James A. - James Edwards, aged 85 years, affectionately known to a wide circle of friends as "Uncle Jim Edwards," died at his home near Hiwasse Friday morning. The funeral was held Saturday with burial in the Ricketts cemetery near Pea Ridge. Besides his wife Mr. Edwards is survived by three sons, Lee and Rufus Edwards of near Hiwasse and D.M. Edwards of Gravette; by two daughters, Mrs. J.C. Seagrove of Hiwasse and Mrs. Wallace Rucker of Ojai, Cal.; and by a number of grandchildren and other relatives.
