Mr. Billy Veazey, 86, of Hamburg died Wednesday July 26, 2006 at his residence in Hamburg. Mr. Veazey was born in Monticello on July 19, 1920 on Rough and Ready Hill and he was a resident of Hamburg for the past 61 years. He was a graduate of Arkansas A & M, now the University of Arkansas at Monticello. He was a veteran of the United Sates Navy having served in World War II aboard the USS Richmond. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hamburg, having served as the Choir Director and Sunday School Teacher. He was a charter member of the Hamburg Jaycee's, the organization which was responsible for the first Little League Baseball Program in Hamburg. He retired from the Georgia-Pacific Forestry Division. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Etheridge Veazey in 1984; his parents, H. L & Minnie Hillman Veazey; and 11 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, Ida Ann Campbell Veazey of Hamburg; three sons, Robert A. Hall Sr. and wife, Susanne, of North Little Rock, Stanton E. Veazey and wife, Kim, of Hamburg and Howard L. Veazey of Memphis, TN; three grandchildren, Robert Hall and Lauren Veazey both of Little Rock and Crews Veazey of Hamburg; three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2006 at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Pennington and Rev. David Moore officiating. Burial will be in the Hamburg Cemetery. Pallbearers are Neal Woods, Bob Davis, Donald Rosen, O. H. Darling, Pat Fitts, Alan Davis, Bill Givens and Jimmy Hargis. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, PO Box 352, Hamburg, AR 71646 or the Hamburg High School Scholarship Fund, PO Box 30, Hamburg, AR 71646 or to the Hospice Health Care, 455 W. Gaines, Monticello, AR 71655.
