Rev. Horace J. Dunn, age 82, of Hampton, died August 2, 2005, in the Oak Ridge Rehabilitation Center and Nursing Home at El Dorado.

Rev. Dunn surrendered to the ministry in 1962 at the Central Baptist Church in Texarkana, AR. His ministry included: First Baptist Church at Foreman, Murmil Heights Baptist Church (formerly Beacon Baptist) at El Dorado, Zion Baptist, Fordyce; First Baptist Church of Gurdon; First Baptist Church of New Edinburg; Beech Street Baptist Church at Crossett and Victory Baptist Church at Hampton.

He also served on the board of Central Baptist College at Conway for 11 years and was Chaplain of the Crossett Police Department and an active member of the Ministerial Alliance and held revivals all over Arkansas.

Rev. Dunn was the lead singer of the Hampton Gospel Singers Quartet which consisted of family members. The Quartet sang at many events over the past 65 years in and around Calhoun County.

Prior to entering the ministry, Dunn was a parts department supervisor for Caterpillar, Inc. in Peoria, IL and also sold insurance for the National Life and Casualty Company in Texarkana, AR.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adrian and Truitt Dunn of Hampton; a brother, James Harvey Dunn; sister-in-law, LaVerne Dunn and son-in-law, Johnny Langley.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Betty Jane McDuffie-Dunn of Hampton; daughters, Cindy Graves and husband Mike of El Dorado and Kim Tomlin and husband Jason of Lewisville; grandsons, Brent Erwin and wife Sany of Kingland, Jeremy Langley of Arkadelphia; granddaughters, Stacy Hill and husband Michael of Pin Bluff and Krysta Brazeale and husband Tony of Hampton, Stephanie Langley of Lewisville and great grandchildren A. J. Erwin and Tiffany Erwin of Kingsland; Taylor, Emily and Julie Hill of Pine Bluff and Abbey and Ryder Brazeale of Hampton; brothers, Joe T. Dunn, Vernon (Red) Dunn, both of Hampton, Carroll Wayne Dunn of Little Rock and William Dunn of Branson, MO; sisters, Louise Silen of Hampton, Ida Johnson of Little Rock and Clois Dunn (widow of James Harvey).

Homecoming services for Rev. Dunn will be held at the Victory Baptist Church in Hampton with Rev. James Ray Raines and Sam Higgs officiating. Burial will be in Dunn Cemetery.
