September 10, 1947 - December 19, 2015
Reverend Dennis “Preacher” Betts, 68, of Hot Springs, AR went to be with his Lord and Savior, Saturday December 19th at 5 p.m. He was born September 10, 1947 in Los Angeles, California to James and Claudia Betts. He was ordained a Baptist minister in the late 1980’s and spent most of his time riding his motorcycle into the mission field, ministering to those that were not in the mainstream of society. He was a devout Christian who attended Crossgate Church and a Master Mason with Whittington Masonic Lodge No. 365. He was a member of CMA (Christian Motorcycle Association), ABATE (Arkansas Bikers aiming Towards Education), ABBA (Arkansas Baptist Biker Association) and MSC (Mission Service Corps). He was also a substitute teacher.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Edward Betts Sr., his mother, Claudia Louise Betts and his brother James Edward Betts Jr.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Vikki Elaine Betts of Hot Springs; his sons, Dennis Keith Betts Jr. (Louisiana), James “Jimmy” Dubree (Louisiana), Brian E. Betts (Texas); stepson Shane Kinniell (Arkansas) and Christine Blanco (Louisiana), who was like a daughter to Dennis; brothers Terry Betts (Louisiana), Michael Betts (Arkansas) and Paul Betts (Arkansas). He was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 12:30-2:00 p.m. at Hot Springs Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 23, 2015, funeral service immediately following. Burial will be at Morning Star Cemetery following the funeral.
