Cossie Edwinn Hendricks went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 22, 2014. He died in a local hospital after a short illness.
He was born to Cossie Lowrey and Annie Mae Foster Hendricks on July 28, 1920 in Paris, AR.

He was a member of Southside Baptist Church and served as the Superintendent of Sunday School class as well as teaching. He was a registered tribal member of the Cherokee Nation in Tahlequah, OK. His family moved to Ft. Smith when he was thirteen. He was a 1939 graduate of Ft. Smith High School and was instrumental in planning his high school reunions. He served in the U.S. Army Corp in 1944 in the WWII Pacific Theatre and was given an honorable discharge in May 1946. While living in Los Angeles he worked as a pressman for Calif Litho Arts. He returned to Arkansas in 1951 with his wife and two children. He continued his pressman skills at Weldon, Williams, & Lick, advancing to foreman for 37 years, retiring in 1986. He enjoyed fishing, carpentry, stained glass making, watching and following his grandchild, Sarah, play basketball and visiting nursing homes spreading the Word.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Alita Louise Selig Hendricks, as well as his parents, his brother Harold and his sister Laverne.

Memorial service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, January 25th at Southside Baptist Church. Visitation will follow the service. Inurnment of ashes will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Ft. Smith. Arrangements are under the direction of Fentress Mortuary.

Mr. Hendricks is survived by his son, Walter E. (Eddie) Hendricks and his wife Pat, his daughter Sandra Wagner and her husband Jerry, his grandson Gerald, and granddaughters, Audrey Smart, Kelly Cloud, and Sarah Wagner of Jersey City, NJ, and Sugar Bostick and her husband Mike and great-granddaughter Caroline, his brother-in-law Greg Meyers and nephews Mike and Chris Meyers and their families. He is also survived by four other great grandchildren and his nieces; Jerita Smith, Cheryl Cooley, Frances Rawski, Anne Leventry, and his nephews; Jim Hendricks, Don Hendricks, Mack Hendricks, Bobby Brown, and Ricky Brown.
