Merle Eugene Brown "Brownie", 82, of Fort Smith, AR, slipped away peacefully from his earthly body to his perfect heavenly body Sunday, March 10, 2013 at a local hospital. He was born September 6, 1930 in Gilead, Indiana to Dow and Sylvia Brown. He served as a Marine in the Korean War and received a purple heart. He worked at General Tire and Rubber Company as a dyemaker and later an engineer for fifty years. Brownie was a very gentle, wise, and orderly man. He learned how to be content in all things. He always had time for his family and friends…never getting in a hurry. Brownie leaves behind to cherish his memories his wife, Ann of fifty-seven years, one daughter, Nancy Evans and her husband Jack, two grandchildren Leanne Rogers and her husband Jason, and Jonathan Morrow and his wife Veronica, eleven great-grandchildren, Jonas, Jasper, Lily, Annabelle, Jacob, Kaylee, Athena, Cyrena, Asher, Brianna, and Abby, two nieces, Mary Milner and her husband Bob, and Sharon Reed. Brownie was preceded in death by his parents, Dow and Sylvia Brown, two sisters, Freida Graczyk, and Polly Hollingsworth, a neice Linda, a nephew, Gary Graczyk, and a great-granddaughter Daci Vera Rogers. Brownie's life celebration will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith, AR, with C.W. Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith, AR. Brownie's pallbearers will be Jonathan Morrow, Jack Evans, Woody Nutter, Glen Hall, Bob Blansfield, and Clem Egleston.
