Mr. William Miller Ludlam, 85, of Hamburg, died Saturday, October 30, 2010 at his residence in Hamburg. Mr. Ludlam was a native of Hamburg and a former resident of Houston, Texas for many years having moved back to Hamburg in 1975. He graduated from Hamburg High School in 1942; attended Monticello A & M (University of Arkansas at Monticello) and graduated from Louisiana Tech in 1950. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was on Omaha Beach in the Normandy Invasion. He was a salesman for the Ruth Berry Pump Company for over 35 years. He was the recipient of the Outstanding Young Man of Arkansas Award and he was an avid supporter of Hamburg High School and all of its athletic programs. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church where he served on numerous boards and committees and a former member of the Memorial Drive United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. He served on the Hamburg Cemetery Association Board for over 25 years and he was a life long member of the Chenquapin Deer Camp.

He is preceded in death by a son, Robert Miller (Bob) Ludlam in 2009; his parents, G.V. & Charlie Mae Bradley Ludlam and two sisters, Bettie Sink & Louise Giles.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Pistole Ludlam of Hamburg; a son, Bill Ludlam and wife, Lynn, of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Lee Ann Grimmett and husband, Patrick, of Little Rock; five grandchildren, Miller and Charlie Grimmett both of Little Rock, Laurie Laudemon of Littleton, Colorado, Jennifer Bloomfield of Bangkok, Thailand & Kim Hutchins of Houston, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Luke & Will Laudemon of Littleton, Colorado, Hannah & Isabella Hutchins of Houston, Texas and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services are 10 a.m., Wednesday, November 3, 2010 in the Hamburg Cemetery with Rev. David Moore officiating. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 202 South Main, Hamburg, AR 71646 or to the Hamburg Food Pantry, c/o Mary Williams, 816 Pine Ridge Drive, Hamburg, AR 71646.
