Joseph B. Ray, 61, Rt. 1.,El Dorado, died Friday morning in an El Dorado hospital following a short illness. Ray, a driller, was born in Lisbon, November 11, 1909. He was the son of Howard and Hazie Moody Ray. He was a life-long resident of Union County and a member of Silver Hill Methodist Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Marjorie Thornton Ray; two sons, James W. Ray and Thornton D. Ray, both of El Dorado; two stepsons, Daniel Browder and Raymond Browder, both of El Dorado; his mother, Mrs. Hazie Moody Watson, Smackover; a brother, Everett Ray, Smackover; a step brother, Ernest Ray, El Dorado, and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday in the Rumph Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. John Burton officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery. (El Dorado Times - July 31, 1971)
