John Carlile Rawls, 69, of Melrose Trailer Court, died around noon Friday in a local hospital following a brief illness. Born March 8, 1899 in Rawls, Ark., he was the son of Thomas and Mattie King Rawls. Mr. Rawls was a retired freight agent for the Rock Island Railroad and had been a resident of El Dorado for 20 years. He was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. E. O. Ballard, El Dorado, a son, Carl Rawls, Shreveport, La.; a brother, Frank Rawls, Crossett; two sisters, Miss Moley Rawls, Crossett and Mrs. R. L. Bush, Warren, and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Rumph Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Ralph Hale officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Carl Kinder, Jimmy Baldwin, Clifford Jackson, Albert Hatcher, Jr, Charles Engelberger and Henry DeLaBretonne. (El Dorado Times - June 14, 1968)
