April 3, 1942 - October 23, 2015
Max Roe, longtime resident of Camden, Arkansas, passed away Friday afternoon, October 23, 2015, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Max was 73 years old.
Max was born April 3, 1942, the first of three children to Otho and Marie Roe. He is preceded in death by his father, Otho Roe. He is survived by his mother, Marie Roe of Camden, Arkansas; his daughter, Candace Engeling and her husband, Todd Engeling of San Marcos, Texas; his grandchildren, Addie and Hayden Engeling; and former wife, Linda Roe of San Marcos, Texas. Max is also survived by his brother, Dan Roe and wife, Myriam Roe residing in Arizona; his sister, Teresa Richardson and husband, Tony Richardson of South Lake, Texas; numerous nephews and nieces; and long-time friend Charlotte Kleibrink of Spring, Texas.
Upon graduating from Louisiana Tech University with a degree in Forestry Engineering, Max served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard as a search and rescue helicopter pilot, where he was honored for outstanding bravery in numerous search and rescue missions. After leaving the Coast Guard in 1971, Max spent the remainder of his professional career in the timber and oil industries and traveled the world as an environmental consultant with Exxon Mobile. He retired and returned to his home town, Camden, in 2008.
Max was happiest up to his elbows in grease, working on one of his tractors, planning his next project, or walking in his beloved woods, which allowed him to continue his lifelong interest of hunting and fishing.
A celebration of his life will be held Monday, October 26, 2015 from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at Proctor Funeral Home in Camden, Arkansas, followed by a grave side service Tuesday, October 27, 2015, 10:00 A.M. at Bethesda Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
