John Byrd McConnell enlisted in the "Pulaski Lancers" of Borland's, Arkansas Infantry Regiment in 1861. On 13 Sep 1863 he enlisted in Company L, 7th Arkansas Cavalry Regiment. He was elected 1st Lieutenant 14 Nov 1863.
He married Ann Elizabeth Houston 7 May 1868 in Johnson Co., Arkansas.
John was killed in a train accident.
