W.W. 'Bill' Lackey, a lifetime resident of this area, died Wednesday at Mt. Home. He was 84.
Mr. Lackey was born Dec 11, 1895, at Hopewell, the son of Lee and Mary Clark Lackey. He was a farmer. Mr. Lackey, who lived a Gassville, was a 50-year member of the Adams Masonic Lodge at Norfork and the American Legion at Mt. Home. He was a Protestant.
Survivors include two sons, Winfred Lackey of Colorado Springs, CO and Billy Ray Lackey of Kansas City, MO; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services were Sunday at the Old Galatia Church with the Rev. Ted Squires officiating. Military graveside services and Masonic services under the direction of Clarence Rempert were held. Burial was in Galatia Cemetery under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Bud Malone, E.L. Southard, Bob Bounds, Sid Skidmore, Howard Wood, and Clay Sloan. Honorary pallbearers were Wade Killian and Ernie Parnell.
