Samuel Hiram Sargo left this world to be reunited with his heavenly family on Sunday, May 17, 2015. Sam was born May 16, 1959, to Billy Don and Byrdie (DeVane) Sargo, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was a lifelong resident of Garland County. He was predeceased by his wife Susan Hope (Williams) Sargo, his father Bill Sargo, his grandparents A.H. & Lillian (Byrd) DeVane and Sam & Vay (Bashor) Sargo, his mother-in-law Wanda Williams, and his uncle & aunt Burton & Evelyn Sargo. Sam was a Methodist and a member of the Glenwood United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Fountain Lake High School (Class of 1977) and was a member of the first FLHS football team in 1977. He was proud to be a Cobra and was never daunted by the rigors of playing defense the entire game for a fledgling football program. He also attended Garland County Community College. Sam worked for Winston Smith, Garland County Surveyor, Sargo Livestock Farms, and Allen Tillery Chevrolet. He followed both his grandfathers in their entrepreneurial spirit and founded Sam’s Lures at the age of eleven: “If it’s tied by Sam, there’s fish in the pan!” Sam was a friend to all who knew him. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and spent his last evening in the company of his friends in the Goosepond Hunting Club. Sam loved to travel and enjoyed many adventures with his wife Susi and her father Jim Williams as they explored Europe and South America. He also enjoyed his elk and mule deer hunting adventures with the Gene Dunn family in Colorado. The outdoors was always his home. Sam is survived by his mother and stepfather Byrdie & Howard Mooney; his sister and brother-in-law Jay & Mary Sargo Schapiro; stepbrother Josh & Melissa Mooney ; niece Kami Mooney; nephews & niece Barry & Jennifer , Ethan, & Grey Schapiro; Jan (Sargo) & Frank Thomason, Becky (Sargo) Blevins, David (Angela) Burton Sargo; Jennifer (Chuck) McMillan, Courtney & Chase McMillan; Melanie McCrary; and Katelyn & Garrett Combs; his special friends Nosey & Ollie, many dear cousins, and a host of friends. Honorary pallbearers are Floyd Hurst, Alfred Bates, Garrett Combs, Ben Dunn, members of the Goosepond Hunting Club, and the 1977 FLHS Football Team. Pallbearers are Gene Dunn, Corbet Deary, Ricky Shores, Larry Dale Tillery, Randy Hill, Randy Holt, Timmy Graves, and Larry Sabourin. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home. Services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Will Bradford officiating. Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Fountain Lake Alumni Association for a scholarship to be given in Sam’s name. The family would like to express a special thanks to doctors Ahmad, Taugh, St. John, Collins, Simons, Kleinheinz, and Finch for the special care they gave to Samuel.
