BELLA VISTA — A strong, quiet man with a wicked sense of humor and orneriness, Charles (Charley) Edmond Hill of Bella Vista, Ark., passed on Dec. 11, 2020.

He was born in Kansas City, Kan., on Nov. 4, 1933, the son of Ralph and Hazel Hill. Charley graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1952, and Finley Engineering College with an Electrical Engineering Degree in 1954. Charles and Florence were married on July 14, 1954, in London Heights Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1957.

He had a hole-in-one on the Country Club course on Oct. 11, 2005. He loved cars, driving, football, woodworking, carving, camping, boating and fishing. He constructed the family's first pop-up camper from a kit in the garage. Later, he built toy boxes, rocking chairs and rocking horses for the grandkids.

He was an active member of the Bella Vista Methodist Church, serving as an usher, golf league organizer, and wherever needed.

Charley was a Boy Scout at Kansas City Chelsea Baptist Church Troop 201. He later served as district commissioner on Tulsa's Indian Nation Council. He was a past President of Sand Springs Rotary Club as well as a member of the McAlester, Okla., and Bentonville, Ark., Clubs. He was a Paul Harris Fellow recipient.
