Leo M. Allen, 86, of Mountain Home passed away at 6:35 A.M. on December 10, 2010 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 10 A.M. Tuesday, December 14th at Mountain Home Baptist Church, Bill Hughes and the Reverend Dr. Tommy Cunningham officiating. Visitation will be from noon- 9 PM Monday December 13th at Roller Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5-7 PM. Entombment with military honors will be in Baxter Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Allen was a retired master electrician retiring from International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers #159 in Madison, Wisconsin. Locally he worked for Englehart Electric and Crawford Electric. He volunteered many hours of his services during the construction of the Mountain Home Baptist Church and the Christian Clinic in Mountain Home.
A World War II veteran, and a hero to many, he served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1947, was wounded in action and received the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Mountain Home Ozark VFW Post #3246 and served as Purple Heart Chaplain.
He was born February 14, 1924 in Willisville, Illinois to Annis D. and Ethel Monteith Allen. He married Dorothy Hackett on July 2, 1950 in North Freedom, Wisconsin.
Survivors include two sons, Wayne Allen (Leah) of Mountain Home and Earl Allen of Springdale; one daughter, Adele Rae Crawford of Rogers. Eight grandchildren: Terry Lee Seats of Deming, New Mexico, Lisa Kay LoPresti of Whitestone, New York, Amanda Rae Knight of Rogers, Arkansas, Jeremy Allen of Springdale, Arkansas, Andrew Allen of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Melissa Ann Davis of Boise, Idaho, Rob Martineau of Mountain Home, Camille Kauner of Illinois. 13 great grandchildren One sister, Eva Crane of Coulterville, Illinois. Three brothers, Dock A. Allen (Shirley) of Cahokia, Illinois, Jim Allen (Emily) of London, Kentucky and Robert Allen of Morgaton, North Carolina. Two sisters-in-law, Sylvia Allen of Oscelo, Pennsylvania and Jackie Allen of Ava, Illinois. Special friends Jerry and Maudie Mudford and a host of other friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers, Franklin Allen and Lester D. Allen, one sister, Violet DeRossett, one half sister, Pearl Rench and four nephews.
