August 11, 1878 - January 26, 1965
Miss Dora Ann Powledge, 86, died at her home on Route One at 6 a.m. Wednesday. Born in Merriwether County, Ga., Aug. 11, 1878, the daughter of Jacob and Mary Fuller Powledge, she had been a resident of Union County for the last 65 years. For a number of years she had made her home with her sister, Mrs. Mattie Emerson. She was a member of the Parkers Chapel Methodist Church. Survivors include four sisters, Mrs. Emerson, Mrs. Abbie Mason and Mrs. Carrie Eastridge, all of El Dorado, and Mrs. Effie Ruple of Austin, Tex.; and a brother, Wyman A. Powledge of Brisco, Tex. Funeral services have been announced for Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Rumph Mortuary with the Rev. George Kerr officiating. Burial will be in Fredonia Cemetery, near Shuler.
