Francis Douglas "Doug" Glaysher, 77, of Bentonville, Arkansas passed away April 6, 2019 in Bentonville. He was born March 22, 1942 in Massapequa Park, New York the son of the late Francis and Lillian Eshewei Glaysher. He is a Graduate of Massapequa High School in 1960. Doug then headed to Emporia State University in Emporia, Kan., where he played on the college basketball team from 1960 to 1964. In 1998 he was inducted into the Hall of Fame for extraordinary achievement in college athletics and public administration, Doug earned the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics All-American honors after leading the school to a fourth-place finish in the national tournament. Doug graduated from ESU in 1964 and awarded the All-American & Olympic honors in basketball at Emporia State University. On January 5, 2013 Doug's jersey was one of four to be retired from Emporia State. He served as a teacher & coach at Hanover Park High School in New Jersey.

Doug moved to Bentonville in 1982 and has worked for the city since 1991. In that time, he has become the city's first and only Parks and Recreation director where he overseen maintenance and activities on more than 500 acres of park land, he also participated in the city's Parks Master Plan for the coming years. He was an avid golfer with a silkie smooth swing and enjoyed spending time his family and watching sports on TV. Doug was a two-time winner of the Bella Vista Club Championship Golf Tournament.

He is preceded in death by a daughter, Joelle Glaysher and a brother, Gordon Glaysher. He is survived by his wife, Lana Lee Payne Glaysher of the home; two sons, Michael Glaysher and wife Carla of Bentonville, Arkansas and Brian Glaysher of Manchester, New Hampshire, a brother, David Glaysher of Plantation Bay, Florida, and one granddaughter, Lexi Morgan Glaysher.

Memorial Services will be held 6-8 p.m. Monday; April 15, 2019 at the Bella Vista Assembly of God. Arrangements by Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. 4th St., Rogers, Ark. Online condolences can be made at www.bentoncountyfuneralhome.com.
