Familysearch.org: Mr. Chalk was born August 15, 1837 in Henderson Co, Tenn. and passed away on October 05, 1877 in Grand Glaize, Jackson Co, AR.
His parents: Dr. James A. and Malinda (Simmons) Chalk. The family had moved from Henderson Co, TN to Jackson Co, AR by 1860.
After the war, John McDougal Chalk married Martha Henry on May 05, 1868 in Jackson Co, AR. They were listed on the 1870 Jackson Co Census with their firstborn daughter, Idora and John's younger brother, Milton.
