Mr. Loel Phillips, age 83, a resident of Lockesburg, died Monday, September 19, 2005 in the Little River Nursing Home in Ashdown.
He was born November 17, 1921 to Floyd and Pearl Phillips. He was a retired volunteer firefighter for the Lockesburg Fire Department, a rural mail carrier for 46 years, and rancher. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lockesburg, was a Mason and song leader in church for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his twin brother, Oael.
He is survived by his wife, Rosa Lee Phillips; a daughter and son-in-law, Rose Anne and Jerrel Helms; one grandson, Brent Helms; one granddaughter, Scarlette Helms, and one great-granddaughter, Autumn Helms, all of Lockesburg; two sisters, Ollie Jean Nettles of Texarkana, TX, and Earle Davis of Tulsa, OK; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. Phillips will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 21, 2005 in the Oddfellows Cemetery in Lockesburg, with Rev. Wesley Blankenship officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
