Harold Lovell, 88 of Magnolia, Arkansas formerly of Tyler, Texas passed away on Monday, May 15, 2017 at Magnolia Regional Medical Center.
He was born on October 18, 1928 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Walter Homer Lovell and Frances Elizabeth (Waterson) Lovell. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1946 to 1948.
Harold graduated from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. He pursued a career in the oil and gas industry that spanned over five decades. He truly enjoyed going to work every day which is evident of the strong work ethic he instilled in his children. He was a member of Central Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for the “Love” class. Harold taught many boys how to play the game of baseball as well as many other life lessons. He volunteered and ran the softball throw foe the Area Special Olympics for over twenty years. And volunteer with the Meals on Wheels and Magnolia Specialized Services.
Harold is preceded in death by his parents; the mother of his children, Dorothy “Dot” (Archie) Lovell; a brother W. Homer Lovell, and his step daughter Debbie Smith.
He is survived by his wife Martha Sue (Richardson) Lovell of Magnolia; two sons Hal Lovell and Mary of Houston, Texas, Bill Lovell and Tana of Longview, Texas; four daughters, Cissy Jones and Gary of Southlake, Texas, Lacy Holder and Kelly of Harlingen, Texas, Dr. Laurie Bradley and Alison of Austin, Texas, Leah Birge of Southlake, Texas, step daughter, Sara Carrington and Steve of Magnolia, Arkansas; son in law David Smith of Magnolia, Arkansas; twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Central Baptist Church with Dr. Mike Seabaugh and Bro. Steve Ford officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be William Birge, Parker Birge, Bennett Holder, Hunter Carrington, Bryan Smith, and Malerie Lovell Copeland.
Harold had a love for animals, therefore in lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests donations to Columbia County Animal Protection Society, PO Box 2003, Magnolia, Arkansas 71754.
