Van Buren Haney, 72. of route 2, Mt. Home, a retired farmer of the Buffalo Community and a World War I veteran, died last Friday at the Veterans Administration Hospital at Oklahoma City, OK. He was a lifetime resident of Baxter County and was visiting relatives in Oklahoma at the time of his death.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday a 2PM at the Mt. Home Assembly of God Church, with the pastor, Rev. Mack Gore, officiating. Interment was in the Heiskill Cemetery at Buffalo, under the direction of McClure Service.
Pallbearers were Ross Zook, Manuard Beard, Hobert Ply, Bill Krueger, George Johnson and Odus Duggins.
Mr. Haney was born at Buffalo on August 11, 1895, the son of Richard Haney and Mary Heiskill Haney. He served with the Army during World War I.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Della Haney, of Gassville; a son Kenneth Haney of Blythe, CA; four daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Stufflebeam and Mrs. Darlene Robertson, both of Stillwell, OK, Mrs. Oaletha Faulkner of Sallisaw, Ok and Mrs. Elsie Burruss of Lebanon, IN; two brothers, Webster Haney of Oolagah, OK and George Haney of the Buffalo community; a sister, Mrs. Minnie Fletcher of Buffalo and 31 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
