George Franklin Smith married Marthey A. Morgan in 1864. There are no dates are on the gravestone, but a Smith Family Historian indicates he was born in 1846, and there is a brief mention of his death in the March 22, 1937 issue of The Baxter Bulletin saying he died February 21, 1937.

The Smith Family History indicates that "He served in the Confederate Army, and was captain of Company F, 20th Arkansas Infantry Regiment."
