Joe "Bud" Hickman, 82, died Sunday, September 24, 2006, in Charleston. He was a lifelong resident of Logan County, where he was active in politics for years as a Democrat. He retired from Farmer's Implement Company, second retirement from Green Thumb program where he worked in the Paris Courthouse at age 80. He was a member of the First Assembly of God, lifetime 50-year member of American Legion where he served as 121 Post Commander in 1988. He was a veteran of US Navy of World War II, veteran of US Army of the Korean War. He was preceded in death by parents, John and Clara (Underwood) Hickman; a daughter, JoAnn Miser; and brother, Lyndell Hickman.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth "Carper" Hickman; two daughters, Brenda Boster and husband John of Van Buren and Denise Spicer and husband David of Paris; two sons, Ed Hickman and wife Sara of Fort Smith and Kevin Quinter of Van Buren; one sister, Bertha Fulmer of Subiaco; and three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Quinter, Scott Hickman, Michael Boster, Brian Boster, David Spicer and Donald J McCubbin.

Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Fulmer, Bob Parks, Jr. Barnes, J.T. Rogers, Marvin Wiggins, Denver Merritt and Rick Lowe.
