PEA RIDGE — Richard Gilliland, 78, of Pea Ridge, died May 8, 2017, at Mercy Hospital in Rogers. He was born Sept. 6, 1938, in Chanute, Kan., to James George Gilliland and Martha Ida Susan Manly Gilliland.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Betty Jane and Madgie Lou Gilliland; and a brother, Bill Gilliland.

He was a U.S. Army veteran where he served as an MP and was awarded decorations for expert rifle marksman, marksman with a carbine, and marksman with a pistol.

He married Sue Moore June 9, 1963. He was a woodshop production manager with Kustom Electronics in Chanute, Kan., for 25 years, and retired from Wal-Mart Photo Center. In 1997, he moved to Pea Ridge to make his home. He attended Living Water Assembly in Pea Ridge.

Survivors are his wife, Sue Gilliland; a son, Doug Gilliland and wife Patti of Centerton; a daughter, Tammy Laycox and husband Damon of Pea Ridge; a sister, Virginia Cahoj and husband Ed of Bolivar, Mo.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A graveside service is set for 12 noon Saturday, May 13, at Pea Ridge Cemetery with Pastor Charles McElhaney officiating. Arrangements are by Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge. No Visitation.
