Claude Oscar "Judge" Roberson, age 93, father of local attorney Cindy R. Morse, passed away at his home in Little Rock on May 14th. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Maxine Brown Roberson, in December. Mr. Roberson was born Dec. 26, 1918 on the family farm in Dumas, Arkansas, to Ethel Louise Lawler Roberson and Edward Gifford Roberson. He was a decorated combat veteran of World War II, serving as a sergeant in the Aleutian Islands campaign. He worked as a project engineer for the Arkansas highway Department for more than 30 years.
Following his military service, Mr. Roberson was a lifelong member of the American Legion and a Mason. He was active with the Arkansas Highway Department retirees and a devoted member of Mabelvale United Methodist Church in Little Rock. In addition to his daughter, Cindy, and her husband, Larry D. Morse II, Mr. Roberson is survived by his son, Claude Oscar Roberson, Jr. He was the adored grandfather of Dylan, Ethan and Ryan Morse of Merced, and Jenny Roberson Ladd and husband Scott Ladd of Frisco, Tx., Millie Roberson of Bella Vista, Ar., and Sam Roberson of Little Rock, Ar. He also is survived by his great-grandchildren, Matthew Roberson of Bella Vista, Ar., Ty Smith, Georgia Smith and Hank Smith of Frisco, Tx.
Mr. Roberson loved his wife, family, friends and country and honored them all with his exceptional character, sparkling wit and kindness. He will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Graveside services with military honors took place Friday, May 18th in Dumas, Ar.

Maxine Brown Roberson, mother of Merced attorney Cindy R. Morse, died on December 9, 2011 in Little Rock, Arkansas after a short illness. She was 91. She was born in Winchester, Arkansas on April 15, 1920 to the late Vivian and Samuel Brown. Maxine met her loving husband, Claude Oscar "Judge" Roberson, Sr., when she was 16. They were married in Dumas, Arkansas on April 1, 1943 while her husband was serving in the Army in World War II. They were married for 68 years. Mr. Roberson survives her.
In addition to her husband and daughter, Mrs. Roberson is survived by her son, Claude O. Roberson, Jr., her son-in-law Larry D. Morse II, grandchildren, Jenny Roberson Ladd of Frisco, Tx., Millie Roberson of Bella Vista, Ar., Sam Roberson of Little Rock, Ar., Dylan Morse, Ethan Morse, Ryan Morse all of Merced; great-grandchildren Matthew Roberson, Ty Smith, Georgia Smith and Hank Smith.
Mrs. Roberson was an active member of Mabelvale United Methodist Church and UMW. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. A kind and loving woman, Mrs. Roberson will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A memorial graveside service was held on Monday, December 12, 2011 at Jefferson Cemetery outside of Winchester, Arkansas with Rev. Bob Marble officiating.
