HILBURN OLIVER BORLAND, age 91, of Choteau, Montana, formerly of Hot Springs, Arkansas, before that a forty plus year resident of Pickens, Arkansas. Hilburn Borland died Friday, February 10, 2012 at the Teton Medical Center from natural causes.

Hilburn was born Wednesday, September 8, 1920 in Moscow, Arkansas, he was a son of Cullen Oliver "C.O." Borland and Mary Europa (Uland) Borland. He was married January 17, 1945 in Marion, South Carolina to Sally Lucille Rogers.

Hilburn was a brave B-17 mechanic in the South Pacific during World War II and a veteran of the US Army Air Corps and the U.S. Air Force. He moved to Choteau 2 years ago from Hot Springs, Arkansas but spent most of his life in Pickens, Arkansas where he was a 40 plus year mechanic shop foreman for the R. A. Pickens & Son Company located in Pickens, Arkansas.

Hilburn, also called 'curly', was a member of the United Methodist Church in Dumas, Arkansas. He also enjoyed gardening and yard work, fishing, going for walks and dancing with his Lucy. His life was mainly family and farm.

Hilburn is survived by a son, Danny (wife, Dr. Judy Borland) of Fairfield, Montana; a sister, Glenda Fowler of Livingston, Montana; grandchildren, Elizabeth Billingsly of Conway, Arkansas and Bryan Borland of Alexander, Arkansas.; two great-grandchildren, Michael and Emily, both of Conway and 11 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jimmy Ray Borland, a longtime accountant that also worked for R. A. Pickens & Son Company; a brother, Marshall Borland; two sisters, Clementine Herron and Pauline Gannaway and a grandson, Glen Borland.

His cremation has taken place under the direction of Gorder Jensen Funeral Home.

A Memorial for Hilburn Oliver Borland will be April 24, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at the family burial site in Walnut Lake Cemetery at Pickens, Arkansas.

Many friends and loved ones attended the somber interment and committal at the legendary cemetery.
