Richard Dedman was quite a prosperous and civic minded person, having held the office of county sheriff, treasurer, and coroner of White County, Arkansas as well as mayor of Arkansas City. Richard was also a mason and a member of the Knights of Pythias. Richard built and operated his own pharmacy on Front Street in Arkansas City.
