Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Butler Dedman, 71, who died at her home here Wednesday afternoon, January 21, after a short illness, were held last Thursday afternoon at the Methodist church. Services were conducted by the Rev. W. C. Lewis, pastor of the Methodist church, assisted by the Rev. T. B. Sandifer, pastor of the Baptist church, and the Rev. E. S. Allhands, pastor of the Christian churc. Burial was in the Arkansas City cemetery.

Mrs. Dedman was the widow of the late Richard Dedman and was the daughter of James Butler and Elizabeth Boise Butler. She was born on June 24, 1850 in White county, Ark.

After the death of her parents she made her home with her aunt, Mrs. Lizzie Butler at Greenville, Miss., where she received her education. On December 13, 1877 she was married to Richard Dedman at Watson. Eleven children were born to this union.

She is survived by eight daughters, Mrs. Joe Demarso and Mrs. Herbert Neff of Arkansas City, Mrs M. B. Houser of Lexa, Ark., Mrs J. W. Sone of Natchez, Miss., Mrs. J. O. Kimbrell of Zwolle, La., Mrs. W. J. Smith of Wink, Texas, Mrs. S. A. Beall of Blytheville, Ark., and Mrs. J. J. Patridge of Elain, Ark.; one son, Richard Dedman of Blytheville' one sister, Mrs Emma Towrsley and one brother, El W. Butler, both of Memphis.

Mrs. Dedman professed religion when she was 14 years old durning a meeting conducted by Whittle and Bliss, English evangelists. She united with the Methodist church and was a consistent member until her death.
