Margaret Lavern was the beloved firstborn child of her parents, and at the tender age of 5 weeks 3 days, she died of a congenital heart defect, in the farm home where she had been born and that she shared with her parents and paternal grandparents for her brief sojourn on earth. Many years later, during what her aging parents knew would be their last trip back to Arkansas, they re-set her headstone and tended her burial place to prepare it as best they could for the years to come.
