Iris Adkison, 95, of Hughes was born January 12, 1921 in Memphis the daughter of the late V.B. (Sr.) and Bessie Stidley Rose and entered into eternal rest September 20, 2016 in Marion. Ms. Adkison spent many years as Director of Head Start. Iris was a Christian and was a member of Hughes Church of God. She is survived by her five children; Bette Clark of West Memphis; Ronda ( Gary ) Mitchell of Olive Branch, Beth ( Guy ) Arnold of Widener, Lisa VanVoorhis of Hughes, Michael ( Linda ) Adkison also of Hughes. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren. Ms. Adkison is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Pete Adkison; two brothers, V.B. Rose, Jr and Jesse Rose along with two sisters Melba Lowe and Winnie Barkley. The family will receive their friends from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm Thursday September 22, 2016 at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home of West Memphis. Graveside services will be held Friday September 23, 2016 at the Marianna Memorial Park.
