James “Jim” Thomey, 80, of Jacksonville passed away Saturday, November 5, 2016. He was born April 27, 1936 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Alphonse and Margaret Yanker Thomey.

He was a member of the Arkansas Air National Guard for over 42 years. They were his other family and he cherished the time he spent with each of them and their friendship. Jim was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.

He is survived by his wife, son, three grandchildren, six stepchildren, eleven step grandchildren, six step great-grandchildren, brother and other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Leonard Thomey.

Memorials may be made to his favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, 505 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.

Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 10th at St. Patrick Catholic Church. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 9th followed by a rosary service at 7:00 p.m. at Smith – North Little Rock Funeral Home. Burial will be in Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.
