J. Peter (Pete) Bebon, 78, of Hot Springs, passed away peacefully Friday night, July 19, 2013.

He was born June 7, 1935 in New York to Joseph and Emma Bebon.

He was preceased in death by his parents and sister, Carol Bebon.

He was survived by loving wife and soul-mate Peggy of Hot Springs, son Andrew (Mary) Bebon, three grandchildren, Calvin, Ian and Sera Bebon and one great-granddaughter Hadley Bebon all of Erie, Illinois, sisters Susan Schmidt of Cary, NC and Nancy Bebon of Dania, FL, brothers Eddie Bebon of Lake Placid, FL and David Bebon of Dania, FL.

Peter graduated from St. Anthony's High School (now St. Thomas Aquinas) in Fort Lauderdale, FL and Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL. He served in the Navy in the Mediterranean and received honorable discharge as radarman 1st class. He held several different positions, from performing clerk duties "down range" for RCA Service Co. during the original unmanned space shots from Cape Canaveral to Director of Alumni Affairs at Florida Atlantic University and president of Florida Atlantic University Alumni Association to managerial positions in production and then assisting the unemployed to find jobs at the State of Florida Job Service. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing and nature. He was also very active in AA and influenced several people to become and remain sober.

He battled Alzheimer's with humor and courage for fourteen years.

A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Gross Funeral Home. Burial in Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery
