Robert John Ballou, 60, of Cabot, passed away Tuesday, April 28 after a tragic motorcycle accident. Born November 23, 1954 in Detroit, Michigan, Bob was known by everyone as having a huge heart of compassion and love for his mom, family, and friends. He would give anyone he met the shirt off his back if he thought a person had a need and was overjoyed to give to others just to make them happy. Bob was a faithful follower of the Lord Jesus Christ and a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and loved to worship the Lord. He was a dedicated employee of Kohler Bakery for over 10 years. As a young man, he proudly served God, family, and country in the U.S. Army from 1972-1974. It wasn’t unusual to find Uncle Bob searching for a new use of the military parachute he proudly owned. He was often found building all sorts of new inventions and contraptions with his precious treasure. Bobby was extremely artistic and gifted in using various mediums of art and utilized those gifts and talents he was blessed with to draw, paint, and express the thoughts he held within.

Bobby -a kid at heart- fervently treasured the time he spent with his nieces and nephews. He absolutely loved photography and his heart was as big as the video cameras he often carried to capture those special moments in life. He would strategically place himself in the middle of a ceremony or a special life event – just to be able to get the best shot. He loved working outdoors and would take every opportunity he could to be outside helping his mom with yard work- especially blowing those massive amounts of leaves each year. As a teenager, Bob had a love for both singing and music and often shared his musical talents with the whole neighborhood.

He was preceded in death by his beloved younger brother, Thomas Ballou; maternal grandmother, Irene Cardinal; paternal grandparents, George and Mildred Ballou; and his nephew, Nathan Kumpe, who also shared his vision, compassion, and love for helping, loving, and serving others.

Bobby is survived by his mother, Marjorie Sherrill, and step-father, Bill Sherrill of Cabot; father, Donald Ballou of Mississippi; brother, David Donald Ballou (Lisa) of Bryant; sisters, Susan Kay Ballou Weatherford of Ward, and Laura Jean Langstaff (Dave) of Cabot; 8 nieces and nephews and 8 great nieces and nephews that will forever remember his great big heart of compassion and his desire to see others happy. Our lives will never be the same without that indelible impact that Bobby made on all his family.
