When William Carroll Grant Burris was born on August 31, 1872, in Arkansas, his father, John, was 23 and his mother, Margaret, was 22. He married Fannie Duvall on September 16, 1894, in Pope, Arkansas. They had two children during their marriage. He died in 1952 in Pope, Arkansas, at the age of 80, and was buried in Atkins, Arkansas.
