SULLIVAN, John W. - John W. Sullivan, age 86 years, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lee Nichols, south of Centerton, Monday Dec. 8, 1930 after an illness of six years. Funeral services were held at the Nichols home Tuesday afternoon and burial made in the Gamble cemetery northwest of Centerton. Mr. Sullivan was born in Hardin county, Ky. March 3, 1845 where he grew to manhood. At the outbreak of the Civil War he entered Company L, 13th Kentucky Cavalry and served in many heavy engagements. He was twice married. His first wife was Miss Julia Blakeman of Hardin county. To them were born a son and daughter. All three preceded him in death. Later he married Julia F. Brockman of Taylor county, Ky. who passed away about five years ago. He united with the Free Will Baptist church about 38 years ago. About six years ago Mr. Sullivan fell and broke his hip and on account of his advanced age has been an invalid since this. Nothing was left undone by his children to make his last years as comfortable as possible. Surviving are six children, two sons, B.H. Sullivan of Pea Ridge and Henry Sullivan of Los Angeles, Cal. and his four daughters, Mrs. Lee Nichols of Centerton, Mrs. Nettie Easley of Hiwasse, Mrs. Perry Arthur of Jay, Okla. and Mrs. M.S. Buckner of Shawnee, Okla. He also is survived by a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

John W. Sullivan, a veteran of the Federal army in the War Between the States, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lee Nichols, near Centerton Monday night after a long illness. He was a native of Kentucky but had lived in Benton county for many years. He is survived by two sons, Wood Sullivan of San Diego, Calif. and Harrison Sullivan of Benton county; and by four daughters: Mrs. Lee Nichols, Mrs. Sudie Buckmaster of Oklahoma; Mrs. Terry Arthurs of Jay, Okla. and Mrs. Nettie Easley of Hiwasse. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Gamble cemetery west of Centerton.
