CAPTAIN US Marine Corps
February 19, 1922 - December 12, 1967
Leon V. McAdoo, Jr., 45, of Smackover, died late Tuesday afternoon at his home following a brief illness. Born Feb. 19, 1922, in Benton, he was the son of L. V. and Nancy Hilborn McAdoo. Mr. McAdoo was a veteran of World War II, having attained the rank of captain in the Marine Corps. He was employed by Monsanto Chemical Co. and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Smackover. Survivors include his widow Mrs. Betty Williams McAdoo of Smackover; two sons, Michael Leon McAdoo and Patrick Theodore McAdoo of Smackover; his parents; and one sister, Mrs. Charlie Phillips of Houston, Tex. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church of Smackover with the Rev. D. C. McAtee officiating. Interment will be in the Smackover Cemetery, under the direction of Young's. There will be a flag presentation at the graveside services. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to service time. (El Dorado Times - December 13, 1967)
