GOUGE, Andrew J. - Another of the old citizens of this section was called away from this world of suffering and sorrow Friday, June 20 at 3:45 when Andrew J. Gouge died at his home south of Gentry. Funeral services were conducted by Elders Hanhart and Griffin at the Seventh Day Adventist church on Flint creek Saturday afternoon with interment in the Flint creek cemetery. Andrew Gouge was well known by all and was a friend to every one. The earlier part of his life was spent in Missouri, near his birthplace. He moved his family to this part of Arkansas about 35 years ago. He was a Civil War veteran, having served his country for a term in that war. He was a true and earnest Christian, a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church for about forty years. He leaves to mourn his loss seven children four daughters and three sons - thirty grandchildren, seventeen great grand children and one great great grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Teague and Mrs. M.E. Smith, both of Missouri. The children are Mrs. Allen Feaster, E.L. Gouge, Mrs. Frank Leach, Mrs. Will Leach, John Gouge, Chas. M. Gouge, with whom he made his home, and Mrs. Lydia Gates of Wynnewood, Okla., the latter not being present at the funeral. All the others live in and near Gentry.

Josephine P. Gouge died at her home March 6, 1925. She had patiently borne several years of affliction and death came when Jesus saw it was enough. She leaves an aged husband and 7 children and other relatives and many friends to mourn her loss. She was buried Sunday morning in the Flint creek cemetery.
