GOSHEN — Ernie Chandler, 61, of Goshen went to be with his heavenly father on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011. He was born on March 2, 1950, in Fayetteville, the son of Waymon James Chandler and Virginia Gragg Chandler.

He worked for over 38 years for the VA hospital, for the last several years making the run from Fayetteville to the Mt. Vernon, Mo., VA center. He was set to retire on Dec. 30, 2011. He died after a 16-day battle with lymphoma. He was saved and baptized at Goshen Church of the Nazarene in the 1980s. He was an alumni of Fayetteville High School and received his diploma on May 31, 1968. He was an avid fisherman, devoted Razorback fan and a much-loved grandpa, husband, son, brother and friend to many.

He is preceded in death by his father, Waymon Chandler, and niece, Christina Reed.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Theresia Ann Jackson Chandler of the home; mother, Virginia Chandler of Goshen; son, Philip Anthoney Chandler of Goshen; three daughters, Heather Dawn Bingaman and husband Colin of Goshen, Whitney Nichole Patrick and husband Jeff of Patrick, Ark., and Bridgette Richelle Williams of Rogers; brother, John Douglas Chandler of Goshen; sister, Barbara Alice Meares of Goshen; grandchildren, Conner Bingaman of Goshen and Tanner Jason Williams of Rogers; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Cate and Paul Cate of Hindsville and Linda Stroud and husband Lonnie of Goshen; three nieces, Misty Cate, Melanie Duncan, and Dr. Linday Mae Chandler; three nephews, Dr. Chris Stroud, Daniel "Danny Boy" Clark and Michael Stroud. He will also be missed my many friends and family members.

Memorials may be made in his name to The Gideons International, P.O. Box 149800, Nashville, TN 37214 or First South Baptist Church of Goshen, 716 East Bowen Blvd., Fayetteville, AR 72703.

A Memorial Service will be held at the First Southern Baptist Church of Goshen and will be announced at a later date in January. Cremation arrangements are being held by Beard's Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville.
