May 21, 1952 - November 15, 1969
Ralph Lee Benson, 17, of 1103 W. Fourth St., was found dead Sunday afternoon at his home. Born May 21, 1952, in El Dorado, he was the son of John Schuler and Dorothy Pyle Benson. A senior at El Dorado High School, he was a member of the track team, a member of the FTA and an assistant little league football coach at the El Dorado Boys Club. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his parents; three brothers, John Schuler Benson, Jr, Stone Benson and William Lee Benson, all of El Dorado; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Dwight Summers, El Dorado; and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Ralph N. Benson, El Dorado. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church with Dr. David Shepperson, Sr. officiating. Burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery under the direction of Young's. Pallbearers were Chris Wadsworth, Dick James, Don Goodwin, Dwayne Chandler, Pat McKinney, Andy Garison, Rick Palmer, Chip Fisher, Danny Sullivan, Jeff Hosford, Denzil Stratton and Jack Reynolds. Honorary pallbearers were all members of the El Dorado High School senior class. The family requests memorials be made to the Boy Scouts of Americab of the El Dorado Boys Club.
