James "Buddy" H. Greer, 84, of El Dorado passed away Thursday, January 31, 2013 at the John R. Williamson Hospice House.

He was born January 7, 1929 in Searcy, AR to Mervyn Hardy Greer and Letha Williams Greer. He grew up in Smackover, AR where he played football at Smackover High School. Before retiring Buddy worked as a supervisor in the maintenance department at Lion Oil Refinery and worked for Union County Rescue & Search Unit. Buddy was a member of West Side Baptist Church where he served as deacon for several years. He loved to fish and hunt and was a former member of the Benjamin Lake Hunting Club, a member of the Arkansas Athletic Association and he coached and officiated high school baseball and football games.

Preceding him in death are his parents and a brother, Mervyn H. Greer, Jr.

Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Louise Bryant Greer of El Dorado, AR; three sons, Nolan Greer and his wife Dusty of Houston, TX, Neal Greer and his wife Laura and Lance Greer and his wife Sondra both of El Dorado, AR; grandchildren, Stacey Greer Hancock and husband Russell, Jamie Greer Blaise, Crystal Greer Bailey and husband Raymond, Alsie Greer Blackmon and husband Zac, Lance Alan Greer, Jr. and Alexandra Greer and great-grandchildren, Shelby Swindoll, Emily Hancock and Patrick Blaise.

Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 3, 2013 at Westside Baptist Church with Rev. Gerald Perry officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens with Young's Funeral Directors officiating.

Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
